How can I get my gear to you?

  • I will be in the Gateway parking lot Saturday’s from 11 a.m. till Noon
    • EXCEPT: when Gateway is closed for a holiday
    • AND Sept. 26 and Oct. 3 because I have a conflict
  • If you are outside the area and are willing to mail me your gear, first… EMAIL me a picture of each item so I can see what we’re dealing with. Then I’ll give you a shipping address for the items I am pretty sure I can turn into cash. – Paul

How does this work?

  • You bring the gear. I sell the gear. You get half, right off the top. I eat eBay fees and any shipping the buyer won’t pay… as well as insurance… out of my end.
  • In general, I price things at about half of what they sold for new. If something doesn’t sell for 30 days, I drop the price a bit. If it doesn’t sell in 90 days you can have it back. About 85% of stuff DOES sell, and I’ll pay you out via PayPal or a mailed check.
  • I sort, photograph, post sales, box and ship items and send you your money as soon as it hits my account from the buyer. (sooner if I have cash on hand).

What will you take? (or won’t take)

  • YES!
    • Premium branded technical riding gear that is in good shape tends to sell well. If you winced when you bought it there is probably someone who would like it even with some signs of gentle use.
    • Motorcycle electronics like GPS, communications gear and radar/laser detectors sell well.
    • I have sold 3-6 year old Arai, Shoei and Schuberth helmets. Only premium helmets sell at all on the secondary market, and they must be in great shape, not too old,  and they sell best if they come in the original box.
  • NO!
    • Sadly, while HJC, Scorpion, Bell and LS2 are fine head protection, they are not prestige items and are not in demand.
    • Gear from discount brands like Bilt, Street & Steel, MOST Sedici (track suit is an exception). There just isn’t a market for used gear from discount brands
    • No offense to Harley riders, but the gear economy for Harley branded items is unfathomable so I don’t take any. I just took an Indian jacket as a test, but expect this brand has the same issues. We soon shall see.
    • Wheels, tires and heavy objects – no one wants to pay shipping.
    • Anything that I don’t think I can sell for at least $50, as it is not likely to sell at all once we add the $8-12 for shipping.
  • SOMETIMES 
    • Take off parts from a stock BMW, mostly body panels and mostly from currently produced bikes. Rare exceptions.
    • Old carbon fiber that is in good shape is something I’ll look at too.
    • Tourmaster and Olympia jackets and pants. Frankly, I love them, and they are quality… but I have several of these items on the site and it doesn’t look like anyone is looking for them. I have not sold one. But if yours is especially nice, maybe. Same goes for Hein Gericke. Back in the day this was the best stuff, but I doubt anyone under 50 has even heard of it.

How long from sale to payout?

  • Short answer: It could take a couple weeks.
  • Longer: eBay doesn’t make money available for withdrawal until two business days after the buyer receives the goods. I ship on the day of the sale but via ground transportation that takes up to 7-10 days. Then, when I request that eBay move the money to my bank that usually takes two more business days. Then I pay out via PayPal or mailed check, whichever my customer wants.
  • Example: Am item that sold August 31st had the money released to me on September 11 and I requested a bank transfer that hit my account September 16. I paid out immediately by PayPal but if this guy preferred checks he might not have gotten one till the 19th.
